The Greenland ice mass loss is observed to be spreading up along the northwestem coast. The understanding of ice dammed lakes role in this process is not fully understood. Until recently the time of the drainage of lakes was determined by irregular visual or satellite observations. Recent studies in Godthåbsfjord have shown that the drainage can be detected by a central placed instrument just below the intertidal zone. The purpose of the project is to determine the speed of the drainage pulse and if it is detectable everywhere within the fjord. Future perspective is an ice dammed lake monitoring network.
