Every summer, The Department of Fish and Shellfish, Greenland Institute of Natural Resources (GINR), carries out a number of standard surveys on an annual basis using the research vessels R/V Pâmiut for offshore surveys and brand new R/V Sanna, launched April 2012, for inshore surveys.

Surveys form the basis of the annual biological assessment on the Greenlandic stock of fish and shellfish. Researchers from both GINR and similar research institutions can apply for GINR to collect samples during the annual surveys.

Application for sample collection in connection with GINR Surveys  

Deadline for application is 15th of April.

Applicants will receive notice from GINR by e-mail in the beginning of May if it is possible to collect the samples in question. Collected samples will be sent to the applicant when all annual surveys have been undertaken around October/November.

GINR reserves the right to make a claim for payment for working hours and freight charges connected with the sample collection. Furthermore, please note that certain preservatives (e.g. ethanol) are subject to strict regulations by The Greenland Home Rule Government.
