In an environmental assessment researchers give a professional assessment of the potential impacts a permit, for example mineral exploration or creation of new businesses may have on the environment.
The Danish Centre for Environment and Energy (DCE) in collaboration with the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources serves as the official independent consultants for the Bureau og Minerals and Petroleum in Greenland in assessments of effects from surveys on the environment.
Environmental oil spill sensitivity atlas' are developed to point out coastal areas which are particularly sensitive to oil spills.
