Help science: Return information about ringed or tagged birds!

If you find or observe a bird with a metal ring, or colour band, please inform us:

If you come about a bird with colour rings, data logger or satellite transmitter we urge you to send the legs with the rings or the whole bird, if it is instrumented with a satellite transmitter.

We need following information:
Ring number and ringing institute (basically all written information on the ring)

  • Species - known or presumed
  • Date and time of finding
  • Finding place - name of neatest village and name of region.
  • Cause of recovery - other information:
  • Your name and full postal address phone or email. All finders receive a reply with information of the ringed bird.

Darvic rings and other colour ringing

If you are lucky to read a colour ring on a living bird, please send this information to Greenland Institute of Natural Resources.
